N. Michigan Red Currant Jam
My husband grew up in a little town on the Leelanau Peninsula of Michigan called Leland. This narrow peninsula that juts out into Lake Michigan is the perfect micro climate for growing fruit, and A LOT is grown here. Every summer when we go up to visit we bring back tart cherries, apricots and sometimes black raspberries but one of my personal favorites is the red currents we bring back from Bardenhagen Farms! This jam is such a beautiful color and has the perfect balance between tart and sweet. It is so good on a piece of toast but it's tart flavor also lends itself equally well to a cheese plate or a turkey sandwich.
Ingredients: red currants from Bardenhagen Farm in Lake Leelanau mi, organic sugar, organic lemon juice, Pomona Pectin .
